The Expanded Floyd Farmer’s Market Is Open for 2022

The Floyd Farmer’s Market is now open for the season, with hours Saturdays 9:00am – 1:00pm and Thursdays 4:00pm – 8:00pm. The farmer’s market season generally runs from May through November.

It features fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as meat, eggs, cheese, baked goods, flowers, coffee and more. Participating vendors include: Bent Mountain Herbs, Bird and Hopper, Birkat Soap, Davis Crafty Pirates, Kester Clark, Minimal Gap Honey, Rivenwood, Sparkling Wildflower, Turner Family Farms and Waterbear Farm.

The Floyd Community Market is a 3,000 square-foot timber frame multi-use pavilion located in the center of town. It opened in 2010.

FloydFest has announced the dates and lineup for next summer. The music festival will be scheduled July 24th through 28th. Headliners will include: The String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, Bandi Carlile, and more.

Steph Custer & The Papa Tom Band

Bring the whole family for to enjoy music and movie in the Warren G Lineberry Park.  

The evening will feature two musical groups. Carrie Hinkley & Waiting to Exhale starting at 6pm, then followed by Seth Custer & the Papa Tom Band at 7:15.

The evening will conclude with the movie ‘Fantasic Beasts’

Sunday, December 20th the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library will host the holiday classic movie “The Year Without a Santa Clause”. (more…)

Once again the Dogtown Roadhouse will be hosting the annual Mardi Gras Costume Ball. This years event will take place February 6th at 6pm.

Headlining this year is Washington DC sensation Sol Roots, backed by the all-star Lagniappe—this year featuring Tad Dickens (The Roanoke Times), Janiah Allen (The Color J), Cam McLaughlin (Alliens), and a host of special guests.

Opening for Sol Roots & Lagniappe are Blacksburg boogie-meisters Badunkafunk and, playing everything from the old time to the far side, Buddhagraph Spaceship make their Floyd debut, while DJ RahBee fills out the night with all the fresh beats you can eat. (more…)

The John Cowan Band will be performing at the Floyd Country Store on December 19th.

John Cowan is a fixture and a favorite at major festivals like the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado and Wilkesboro, North Carolina’s “traditional-plus” MerleFest. Stints in his band have helped launch the careers of Noam Pikelny (Punch Brothers), Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett), and Scott Vestal, among others.

The band’s current lineup features long-time collaborator and outstanding flatpick guitarist Jeff Autry, renowned and in-demand fiddler Shad Cobb, and fellow Doobie Brother, Ed Toth, on drums. (more…)

Members of 16 Hands will be hosting their fall studio tour on two weekends this year. The tours will be Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd.

In addition to the artists members of the group, each studio will host visiting artists and apprentices at the studios.

Calling all Scrabble lovers! The Scrabble Club meets twice a month at the Jessie-Peterman Memorial Library, 321 West Main Street, Floyd VA, 24091.

The group meets the 2nd Saturday and 4th Tuesday of each month.
