Denur Crafts Co-op of Kenya Benefit – Dec 8th

Leah Mitula, a native from Kenya, Africa will be visiting Floyd, VA. Leah started a woman’s co-op in Kenya to help support the education of children. Kenya does not have a public school system and many women are unemployed living in a poverty lifestyle. They do not have the means to send their children to primary school. The vision of Denur Crafts is to provide education for the children of the members through the sales of their Tribal African Jewelry and handmade crafts. There is an annual fee of $150 for one child to attend school since Kenya does not have a public school system.

We are hosting a benefit to help raise money for the children. The jewelry and crafts will be available to purchase at the benefit. Leah will be sharing stories about the artisans in Kenya and about the co-op called Denur Crafts. There will be delicious food from Busy Bee Catering by Lorrie Fenn and there will also be African Drumming by NiiAnang. It’s a great time to social with the community while supporting a good cause.

All the proceeds go directly to the woman’s co-op Denur Crafts to help the children have the opportunity attend school. There is no entry fee but we encourage people to donate and/or bring school supplies for the children. Please come and invite all your friends!
