Blue Mountain School Local Gifts Fundraiser
Floyd’s Blue Mountain School views community as its central point of reference. We have our current in-school community; the community of families and friends of this in-school community; the school’s alumni community; and, of course, the local community of Floyd, of which we are a small, but integral, part.
We believe that anything that benefits our community also benefits ourselves, so we do our best to reach out to it in as many ways as possible. One key example of this is the school’s annual Local Gifts Fundraiser, in which we support our local businesses by encouraging as many members of our community as we can to shop locally in the lead-up to Christmas.
In exchange for a small donation from many local businesses, we provide free childcare for any families who wish to shop in Floyd while their kids play, on Saturdays December 4th and December 11th, from 10am to 5pm.
Last year, the following businesses participated in this fundraiser, and we expect even more to join in this year: The Bell Gallery, Blue Ridge Restaurant, The Blackwater Loft, The Country Store, Farmer’s Supply, Gallery One Eleven, Green’s Garage, The Harvest Moon, The Law Offices of Jonathan Rodgers, Medina Baskets and Nomad Clothing, Notebooks, Oddfella’s Cantina, Sarah McCarthy Pottery and Jewelry, Subway, The Treasured Toy, and Wildfire Pots.
We are seeing this fundraiser grow into a tradition that mutually helps local businesses, families, and our school. We would love to invite your family to be part of this event as well.
