Travel Down “Western Highways” on Nov. 23

Randolph & Marian, Western HighwaysFloyd residents will have a to see and hear “Western Highways” by Randolph Walker and Marian McConnell on the weekend before Thanksgiving.

“Western Highways” is a new CD and also the title of a multimedia show by the folk-rock duo.

The multimedia show, featuring slides of landmarks such as Monument Valley, Route 66 and the Painted Desert, will be presented at Floyd Country Store on Saturday, Nov. 23, noon-1:30 pm, as part of Americana Afternoons.

“Western Highways” is a trip through time and space, evoking the open spaces, imagery and mythology of the American West through rock and folk-rock songs and instrumentals featuring vocal harmony, harmonica, acoustic and electric guitar. (more…)

Annabelle’s Curse is now touring in support of their freshly released sophomore album, Hollow Creature. It was recorded at the legendary Suma Studios during the early months of 2013 and produced by Grammy nominated David Mayfield (Barry Scott’s album, In God’s Time), this album is projected to be one that will resonate through time.   • Soldier and home-front presentations beginning at 10:30am
  • Chris J. Hartley, author of “Soneman’s Raid, 1965” at 1pm

DMV Mobile in Floyd May 1st

Floyd Country residents will have access to all of the DMV services from this mobile office.

A fundraiser for Blue Mountain School

Floyd is many things to many people, and to most people one of those things is fun. There has seldom been a resident of Floyd who knew how to have as good a time as Tom Ryan did. Floyd’s first Mardi Gras King was also a visionary with a generous community spirit, who helped put Floyd’s Mardi Gras on the map and supported Blue Mountain School in many other ways besides.

In this year’s Blue Mountain School fundraiser we pay tribute to this mountain of a human spirit in the way he would want us to: we’re going to have a great big party! (more…)
